Changing your Address
File a change of address at least 10 days before moving. You can file the change at your local post office or online.
Voter Registration
If you're moving to, from or within Bergen County, please make sure to update your voter registration information. You may register to vote by completing a registration application form at the Bergen County Superintendent of Elections office or by mail. Forms are also available at any Municipal Clerk’s office, or other public agencies. For further information, please call the Superintendent of Elections office at 201-336-6100 between the hours of 8:30AM and 4:30PM or visit their website.
1. Moving within Bergen County: If you move within Bergen County, you must file a written change of address with this office.
2. A voter who moves from one election district to another in the SAME town or moves from one town to another in Bergen County, before election day, and has not notified the Superintendent’s office in writing of this change before the deadline date, must go to your new polling location on election day, in the municipality of your new residence in order to vote on a provisional ballot. You can call your local municipal clerk or the Superintendent of Elections at 201-336-6100 to locate your new polling place.
3. Moving from/to another county: If you move to another county, more than 30 days before an election, you must re-register to vote in the new county. If you move to another county less than 30 days before an election, you vote at your previous polling place in Bergen County for only that election.

New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles
If you’re moving to New Jersey, be sure to update your license and vehicle with the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles.
License
If you have recently moved to New Jersey, you must transfer your out-of-state license within 60 days of your move or before your current license expires, whichever occurs first.
Vehicle Title
Under New Jersey law, you must transfer your vehicle title (with or without a lien) within 60 days.
Vehicle Registration
You also need to register your vehicle within 60 days of moving to New Jersey or before your registration expires (whichever occurs first).
Vehicle Inspection
In New Jersey, you must have your vehicle inspected within 14 days of registering it.
Insurance
Insurance is mandatory in New Jersey. You must always have proof of insurance while operating any vehicle. Check with your current insurance company to confirm they are licensed in New Jersey.
Utilities
Please call the utility companies at least 10 days before moving. If you are moving out, the company will request a forwarding address for the final bill.
